βA recent LinkedIn post from Tyler Deeb, designer and founder of Misc. Goods Co., highlights an example in his own biz of the power of doing less:
It felt risky at the time. Like we were shrinking. But what Iβm discovering now is the opposite. When you stand for one primary thing, special releases actually make sense. The audience is aligned. The theme is aligned. The math works.
His fragrances recently launched in American Eagle stores after a long journey that began by fundraising for a deck of playing cards on Kickstarter.
βDoing less, for me, now looks like a deeper focus on writing and creating the universe of Creative Taxi: the primary drivers being DEAR CREATIVE and Creative Taxi Radio ("Hey Driver, turn it up to Zen!"), with updates and regular creative fuel here as I continue to develop a few key partnerships.
Once those details come together, I hope to have more news to share on in-person events, like community art-making, part 2 of the creative burnout workshop, or maybe even Dad yoga in the park? (Interested?? My balance these days even impresses my gymnast daughter!)
Outside of work projects, I want to have more coffee chats discussing the creative process: challenges, dreams, project plans that feel messy.
